Our Pearl was originally built in 1935, to be J.A. Walrdep's ("the candy man") "Tulsa Maid" Wholesale Candies. He was one of the first individuals to ever open a wholesale store in Tulsa (not our location). Our location was his third store. His stores typically sold cigars, tobacco, cigarettes, groceries and of course his famous "Tulsa Maid" candies.
The Pearl functioned as a factory for a multitude of different businesses after that period, from upholstery to sports equipment.
Then our director was looking for a venue for her own wedding. After looking throughout Tulsa for the vision of the perfect space, she found out that a friend had purchased The Pearl to renovate for a distillery, she fell in love with the natural character of the bare brick walls, how each room flowed into the next, and how the venue was the perfect backdrop for every photo, that she planned her wedding there, which would be the very first wedding that The Pearl hosted.
Four years later, Alison not only started her journey into marriage within the walls, but was a key part in the Pearl becoming a wedding venue that serves and celebrates other couples’ love stories. What started as just a little dream turned into an incredible journey creating the Pearl with the unending goal of forever preserving and enhancing her story and sharing her with our city.
The Pearl is sectioned into three rooms:
The Chandelier Room
The Reception Room
The Silver Room
