The Grand Entrance

Once we entered the reception, I felt like the evening flew by!

For our grand entrance, we entered the reception through the Chandelier Room. This was a great option for us, as we had just finished altar portraits in the ceremony room.  By the time we entered the reception, most of our guests had already gone through the buffet and bar and most were already seated or up mingling. We chose to open the buffet and bar before our grand entrance to avoid feeling rushed through our photos.

We went right into the first dances, simply to get them out of the way. We love to dance; however, we are not big dancers in public. And for two people who are not used to being the center of attention, it all seemed a bit daunting at the time.

Looking back I am so thankful that we did the traditional first dances. I will always treasure these candid photos of us and our parents.

The only thing that didn't go as planned was our cake. At that time, the AC was not big enough to cool the old factory room, and our cake started to melt.  We ended up going straight into cake and toasts after the first dance.

This actually worked out well as most of our guests had already eaten and were ready for cake.  Tip #9  Wedding day timelines can change at a moments notice. Have a professional day-of coordinator who can manage all of these behind the scenes changes seamlessly. They are not only coordinating the big moments, but also they are making sure your mom is there to see and enjoy it.

The Bouquet Toss

I loved the loft for my bouquet toss! It left plenty of room below for all my single ladies to fight over the bouquet.

The Favors

Wedding favors are definitely NOT a must. However, I couldn't resist a good DIY. I was so excited about my new last name (Coffey), and I found a cute Pinterest idea to incorporate our last name into the favors. My mom and I bought burlap and sewed them into little bags, which we then filled with coffee beans.  We had so many mini coffee bags left over after the wedding, we literally had coffee for almost a year afterward. Tip #10 DIY ideas are great, but its important to gauge your time and decide what you can get done without stressing yourself out!

The Grand Exit

I'm a sucker for a romantic sparkler grand exit! They look so magical, and that's what I wanted. Tip #11 When planning for a sparkler exit, always buy long wedding sparklers. These are specifically designed for grand exits and burn longer for photos. Also, include a bucket of water just in case.

Looking back on our wedding day, it was perfectly imperfect, just like us. The Pearl was the perfect back drop for us, non-traditional and timeless.

It wouldn't have come together without our incredible vendors and their amazing talent and our families who bent over backwards for us. Simply Amazing Service, Studio Westway Weddings & T.K. Weddings and Events truly made my day, and I will forever recommend them! You all took my vision and ran with it, and we are forever grateful.
