Rachael + Jacob

6.1.19

Happy one-year anniversary, Rachael and Jacob! In honor of your first year of marriage, we thought it only appropriate to celebrate you guys with a trip down memory lane and a stroll through the stunning work of Susan Alyse. But first, a little back story on how the two met and fell in love!Rachael and Jacob met in July of 2014. They met through mutual friends at a bible study but didn’t go on their first date until early October. I guess you could say Rachael made him work hard for that first date, but from that moment on, they truly knew they were meant for each other. Their first official date was October 12, 2014.

The Proposal:

"On a rainy Sunday afternoon, in our first home together, Jake came running through the front door and immediately told me to stand up and that he had something important to ask me. Right there in our living room he got down on one knee and proposed. He apparently had just picked the ring up and could not wait any moment longer to ask. I appreciated this because it was more special being just the two of us, in our home that helped grow our love, located in the pearl district."

Their favorite wedding moment:

"Jacob and I both agree that our absolute favorite part of our wedding day was when we both stood in front of each other and our loved ones as we were joined as one; what a special moment. We also cannot leave out our second favorite part, all the dancing. We had so much fun letting loose and dancing with all our friends and family, it was a perfect ending to a perfect day!"

Rachael and Jacob bring light to every room they enter. The photos that follow are an example of just how bright that love is, and we cannot wait to share them with you! Thank you for choosing us, Rachael and Jacob. We are so grateful to have been a small part in your beautiful story. Cheers to the Chapmans!

"With our engagement being a year and half long, I had plenty of time to plan the wedding of our dreams. I am a pretty detail-oriented person, so I knew exactly the vision I had in mind. The moment we first toured the Pearl District Building, we could truly see our vision coming to life, and knew this is exactly where we wanted to be married. We wanted our wedding to be romantic and timeless with a touch of glam, and that’s just what the pearl gave us." - Rachael

"My inspiration for the décor was romantic with a touch of glam. I loved the thought of having brass/gold be a staple throughout the wedding and incorporated it throughout the whole venue, from picture frames, to glass votives, candle holders, and my jewelry. I wanted everything to look classy and elegant, in an effortless way. The pearl building is so beautiful by itself, decorating it was fairly simple." - Rachael

"We were never big fans on the idea of having our guests travel from our ceremony to our reception location, so we were really hoping to find a venue with enough space for both. Luckily, the Pearl District Building had just that. We loved how the different rooms flowed together with ease and allowed our guests to stay in one spot for the whole night. The dining room and silver dance room were just amazing and allowed plenty of space for all our guests to enjoy dinner, drinks, and lots of dancing!" - Rachael

"I wanted our guests to be wowed at the overall experience of the wedding. I wanted everyone to not only love the way the venue looked on our special day but also to love the food, cake, drinks, and all the dancing. I truly just wanted everyone to enjoy their night and let loose with Jacob and I as we celebrated the night away!" - Rachael
