Hanna + Charlie

3.16.19

Hanna and Charlie met in Utica square. Hanna had just started working at a store there, and Charlie worked at the Starbucks. Hanna would go frequently for coffee, and Charlie eventually asked her to hang out. Their first date was at Prairie Brewpub, and it was obvious they were both nervous. Hanna panicked and only ordered dessert for dinner, and Charlie knocked over a beer. But it ended up going really well, and they stayed there talking for several hours. Charlie even walked Hanna to her car in the rain with no umbrella.

The Proposal:

"He proposed late one night in his apartment. We had been talking for a while about starting a podcast, and he asked me to come over to do an audio test. He ended up proposing while recording. He knew I didn’t want anything over the top, so it was cute and intimate but we still had record of it. I was completely caught off guard."

On why they chose The Pearl:

"We loved the Pearl the second we walked in. It is rustic yet elegant, and grand but cozy. All the wood and brick really appealed to me, and the chandeliers and glitzy bits added just enough of a wedding vibe. Plus the all-in-one aspect of it simplified so many things."

On their decor and theme choices:

"Again, my decor was [mainly] just the flowers. The Pearl was beautiful on its own so we didn’t feel the need to add anything besides that. Plus the Pearl had just enough of the Art Deco vibe I had wanted all along."
